Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Missions Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Players have started turning to personalized games set up using the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how demanding these assignments have become.
Understanding BF6 Objectives
Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four categories of assignments, but while the majority only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one key firearms found within the game.
A number of these locked weapons might eventually earn a place on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash via Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you want to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Extremely Difficult Mission
One more community participant highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with marksman guns
This is tough enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and maybe an additional option if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.
The Alternative Method
However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if tackling the tasks in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
Currently, the community continues to share their thoughts on these demanding multiplayer missions, hoping for a less arduous gaming experience in future updates.
