I cannot count on three full seasons at Man Utd - the United boss

Manchester United head coach

The Manchester United coach - here being consoled after May's European final loss - notes he is satisfied by the co-owner's long-term backing but emphasized that the future is unpredictable in soccer.

Manchester United head coach the Portuguese coach thinks it is important the co-owner openly discussed his extended perspective - but says nothing is certain about the future in the sport, much less three full years.

Through a conversation with a major publication in recent days, Ratcliffe stated it might require the manager three years to create substantial change at United's home ground.

Arriving during a time when the manager's position has been receiving close inspection following an extended sequence of unsatisfactory outcomes, the comments helped quell a portion of the current stress.

Yet, discussing prior to the centenary clash with old rivals Liverpool at their home ground, Amorim stressed that what comes next is challenging to anticipate in football.

"It's certainly beneficial to listen to that but he tells me all the time, occasionally through communication following matches - but recognize, I know and the co-owner recognizes, that football is not like that," he stated.

"The most important thing is the next game. Even with owners, you cannot manage the next day in football."

Chief executive the club executive has acknowledged it has needed far longer for Amorim to acclimate to the English top flight after his transfer from his former club last November than anyone imagined.

The Red Devils have secured 10 victories in 34 league games with the Portuguese coach. They haven't managed back-to-back league wins and didn't complete a matchday in the current term better than ninth place.

The worrying figures are challenging confidence in the manager among the Red Devils supporters heading into a sequence of matches their team has struggled during for the last couple of years.

United's boss commented he does not feel the doubt inside the club at the club's Carrington training ground and is insistent nothing equals the stress he applies to the squad - and to some extent, he would prefer Sir Jim to refrain from seeking to establish serenity because he fears the effect it might produce on the team.

"It isn't merely something people discuss, I sense it each day," he said. "It's certainly beneficial to listen to it because it benefits our followers to grasp the management realize it needs some time.

"However simultaneously, I'm not fond of it because it creates an impression that we possess time to solve problems. I don't wish for that sense in our team.

"The expectation I place on the squad or on myself is so much bigger [versus outside influences]. In the sport, particularly at major teams, you have to show your worth every matchday."
