Witness Describes Time When 'Deranged Individual' Struck Northern Manchester Jewish House of Worship

An individual who helped securing a Jewish temple in the region of Manchester has shared how a deadly incident took place, causing the loss of two community members.

That Thursday, the survivor was within the worship center when the assailant crashed into and stabbed attendees gathering for a service to observe Yom Kippur.

He stated that the 'deranged' attacker attempted to force open the entryways of the place of worship, and he remembered locking down the building with additional congregation members.

Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66 died in the incident on Thursday, while three others were injured while helping to safeguard congregants.

Witness Testimony of the Violence

He, who serves as a leader at the synagogue, explained reinforcing the entry points and said that the perpetrator used knives and garden containers to try to get in.

I observed a terrifying individual forcefully push against the entrance, seeking to force them open holding a sharp weapon," he explained to the media.

"The only thing that could be discerned was him saying 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.

Just those words were spoken. We stood inside the building and we were declaring 'we are not letting this man in'.

He acted like a deranged, evil monster."

Ceremony Held for Individual

These comments came as many individuals were present at the funeral service for Mr Cravitz.

Close kin, attendees from the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation including the community rabbi, and participants of the broader community assembled in Pendlebury, Salford to honor the deceased.

Mourners occupied the burial ground, with many gathering in the open the prayer hall in the downpour, following the service and eulogy over audio systems.

In a message issued on the following day, the victim's loved ones stated that he had a helpful nature.

Authorities Inquiry and Arrests

Local authorities indicated that one victim was likely struck by officer shots as they shot the attacker following the emergency call.

The victim, who was described by his loved ones as a "hero", was participating in a service at the house of worship when the attack occurred.

"He was a cherished sibling, devoted uncle to his four nieces and one nephew and a valued relative," his family noted.

"The family is devastated by the unexpected loss of a genuinely good person.

"His final act showed immense heroism and he remains in memory for his brave deed."

Several arrests took place in regarding the violence, and authorities indicated that a group were still detained on Sunday morning.

The detained were apprehended for terrorism-related activities.

Those arrested include several men, of specific ages and apprehended nearby; a female in her 60s detained locally; and a middle-aged female arrested in Farnworth.

An 18-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man were freed with no further proceedings, authorities stated on the following day.
